History
In 1910, Le Roux Verpakkingen & Disposables B.V. was incorporated in the capital of Drenthe, Assen, a small town in the north of the Netherlands. These days Assen has world fame for the TT races on the popular TT circuit. The first generation of Le Roux started by selling office supplies that were delivered by freight bike. During the 1950s the shop was taken over by son J.F. Le Roux who located the company at Kanaalstraat in the centre of Assen. In 1972 the company was acquired by Peter Balcar and the business moved from Kanaalstraat to W.A. Scholtenstraat 30 in Assen, where it operated for more than 40 years as a supplier of office supplies, disposables and packaging. In 2008, Mr Balcar Sr. left the company to make room for his son Mischa Balcar who changed tack by launching the first e-commerce channel Disposable Discounter in 2010. With Disposable Discounter’s strong focus on the online sales of products, Le Roux slowly changed from a selling player to an important player in the area of purchasing and logistics for all its e-commerce channels in Europe and Asia.
